Meet the Secretariat

Angela (she/her) is a junior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Religion and Politics. She plans to go into clinical psychology or counseling post-grad but might attend law school – who knows! She is a proud Bostonian, loving all things Red Sox, Celtics, and Dunkin. When she is not dearly missing New England, you can find her doing pilates, reading, or working on her latest craft project. Angela has been involved in Model UN since her first year of high school, becoming President of her high school MUN team (shoutout to Belmont High!). After serving as USG of Communications for WUMUNS XVII, she is excited to take on the new challenge of Secretary-General. She can’t wait to welcome delegates and advisors to WashU this fall!

Evelyn (she/her) is a senior majoring in Linguistics and Spanish from Chicago, Illinois. When she’s not studying, she enjoys learning to cook and working on her small but growing paint-by-numbers collection. Since her high school didn’t have a MUN team, Evelyn first got involved with MUN her freshman year of college. After helping staff 2 conferences, Evelyn joined the secretariat, and this will be her second year serving as a USG for Committees. She’s excited to see our new and returning delegates at WUMUNS XVIII!

Dan (he/him) is a junior double majoring in Data Science and Financial Engineering from Indianapolis, Indiana. He is currently exploring roles in the aviation industry. Dan speaks fluent Russian, has an identical twin brother, has flown a plane, and has had the honor of serving on a jury. This is Dan’s seventh year of involvement with Model UN. He was heavily involved in MUN from the start, attending UDMUN, IndianaMUN, NAIMUN, and THIMUN in The Hague, The Netherlands throughout his high school career. As Dan entered college, he chose to transition from competition to the organization of conferences. This is Dan’s third WUMUNS and second year on the secretariat, and he is incredibly excited and honored to oversee its general operations. Dan cannot wait to meet everyone in October and invites you all to make the most of your experience in St. Louis!

Keysha (she/her) is a junior majoring in Global Studies with minors in Political Science and Legal Studies. Keysha hails from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, but she has spent most of her life in Brooklyn, NY. Keysha is confident that her ambition will lead her to a career as a lawyer—which type, you may ask? Whichever one avoids being in court. Keysha enjoys reviewing films, playing the bass, and listening to music for fun. Her favorite artists are Mk. Gee, Clairo, and Frank Ocean. This is Keysha’s second WUMUNS and her first time on Secretariat. Last year, she was the chair and committee director for the Press Corps Committee (RIP). Now, she has taken over as CFO. She’s so excited to meet you all and can’t wait to share fantastic restaurant recommendations when you’re in town!

Colette (she/her) is a junior majoring in International Affairs and Latin American Studies with a minor in Spanish. She plans to attend law school to work in human rights or immigration law and policy. A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, she loves all things outdoors, including hiking, backpacking, and skiing. Colette loves traveling whenever possible and is still reminiscing about her latest trips abroad to Italy and Morocco. On that note, she is very excited to study abroad next semester in Santiago, Chile! Colette joined Model UN in her first year at WashU. She has since staffed WUMUNS XVI competed at NCSC, directed the Percy Jackson JCC at WUMUNS XVII, and is now the VP of Internal Ops for WUMUNS XVIII. She looks forward to meeting all the delegates and seeing their creative choices throughout the conference!

Desiree (she/her) is a junior double majoring in Educational Studies and Marketing. She was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and is a pure Chicagoan! She can give you tons of amazing food recommendations and sites around the city. Desiree plans to remain in the education field to further her impact as a future educator and leader. In school, Desiree is involved in her religious community and loves hanging out with friends. Outside of school, she is frequently surrounded by family members, is always chatting, and enjoys making traditional Ecuadorian food. She also enjoys taking lots of pictures and exploring the outdoors. This past summer, she had the opportunity to explore Ecuador and Rome! Desiree began her Model UN journey in her sophomore year of college as a committee staffer, then transitioned to Secretariat as the VP of Communications. She looks forward to getting to know all advisors and delegates at WUMUNS!

Quinn (she/her) is a sophomore from St. Louis. Missouri majoring in Political Science and Economics with a minor in Writing on the pre-law track. Outside of school, she can be found playing sudoku, at a pilates class, or feasting on all-you-can-eat hotpot with friends. Quinn is excited to serve as USG of Committees at WUMUNS XVIII and to see all the outstanding delegates in action!

Soumya (she/her) is a sophomore majoring in Political Science and potentially Public Health. She plans to go to law school post-grad! She was born and raised in Memphis, TN, and recommends you go and try the barbecue there (even though she is a vegetarian)! In her free time, you can find her at Whispers Café, spending time with her friends or practicing for the next concert with the WashU Symphony Orchestra. Soumya only got involved with Model UN in her first year of college but was Co-Captain of the Debate and Mock Trial Team in high school. After coming to WashU, she became involved with Model UN and dropped Debate after 6 years! After serving as Vice and Head Chair for the WUMUNS XVII Qatari Diplomatic Crisis Committee, she is incredibly grateful to serve as Chief of Staff for WUMUNS XVIII. Soumya is excited to see the delegations’ performances at the conference this fall!

Eric (he/him) is a junior majoring in Political Science and Film. He plans on entering law school after graduating, likely to enter entertainment or estate law. Eric hails from Long Island, New York, and describes himself as both a proud New Yorker and remorseful Long Islander. Eric loves watching and critiquing films, debating politics, and Model UN-ing of course. He is incredibly excited to serve on WUMUNS XVIII as secretary of committees and provide delegates with the most entertaining and insightful committees possible!

Arianna (she/her) is a sophomore double majoring in Psychology and Philosophy: Law and Policy with a minor in Political Science. She plans to go into Constitutional law and eventually hold an elected office position post-grad. She hails from Long Island, New York, surrounded by the beach, watching sports, and shopping. When she is in school, you can catch her watching a sports game, hanging out with friends, or reading. Arianna has been involved in Model United Nations since her senior year of high school, founding her MUN team at William Floyd High School. After being in MUN in her senior year, Arianna knew she wanted to continue throughout college, and that’s what WUMUNS gave her. After being head chair for a committee in WUMUNS XVII, she aimed higher and is now helping run WUMUNS XVIII, in which she is serving as USG of Committees. Arianna can’t wait to see what WUMUNS XVII holds this fall and can’t wait to welcome delegates to WashU!

Brendan (he/him) is a sophomore from Houston, Texas. He’s majoring in Mathematics and Economics and plans to attain his PhD in Economics. Brendan has been part of Model UN since his sophomore year of high school and last year was his first year chairing a committee. He’s thrilled to take a bigger role in making WUMUNS a great experience as USG of External Operations. His greatest honor was doing a comedy skit in front of a minister of Norway. Brendan’s a big fan of Taco Bell, the Houston Dynamo (which could go toe-to-toe with any European team), and Playboi Carti. He’s incredibly excited to work with delegates and advisors at WUMUNS XVIII this fall!
